About Cheryl Blenk, MS ATC CSCS EMT USAT

Cheryl Blenk is one of New York’s premier fitness experts who has been in the industry for more than 20 years. She is a licensed athletic trainer and a certified strength and conditioning specialist as certified by the NSCA and NATA. She is a NY state licensed EMT, as well as a certified Level 1 USA Triathlon Coach and Certified USA Swimming Coach. She has worked at some of the most prestigious health and fitness settings including the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, the New York Athletic Club, La Palestra, Chelsea Piers, and Equinox. She has trained professional and collegiate athletes, celebrity clientele, as well as adolescents, pre and post natal women, and people with orthopedic concerns.

Cheryl has been a competitive swimmer both as a club swimmer and division one collegiate athlete. She teamed with Nick Baker, Former Olympic Swim Coach, to design the dryland strength and conditioning program for his Peak Performance Swim Camps held nationally and internationally. Cheryl has traveled to Hong Kong with Peak Performance Swim Camps to design the strength and conditioning program for a group of swimmers along with former Olympic coach Mark Temple.

Cheryl serves as a consultant for a number of swim teams regionally for their dryland programs.

Presently, Cheryl coaches the Empire Swim Club in Westchester, NY, which has approximately 250 swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18 and is ranked number 24 in the nation, USA Swimming virtual meet ranking, 4th in the Eastern region, second in the Metropolitan LSC, and fourth in the Eastern Zone by USA Swimming's Virtual Club Championship (VCC). Cheryl is both the head dryland coach as well as assistant swim coach to Xtreme Team.

Cheryl also has a private clientele business designing programs for a broad range of clientel from weekend warriors to amateur tri athletes. cheryl's background in sports medicine allows her to work with many orthopedic injuries and post rehab conditions. She has been quoted in many magazines and journals including Glamour, Fitness, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times and she has appeared on ESPN.

Cheryl presently competes on the triathlon circuit and has finished at the top in her age group in many regional races including the NYC Triathlon, Montauk Triathlon, SOBE Mossman, Harriman Triathlon series, Timberman half ironman, Eagleman half ironman and more. She participates in area swims including swimming across the Long Island Sound 7 miles for Swim Across America which raises money for cancer research.

Cheryl was named the 2013 Athleta Sponsored Athlete and appeared on their national web site as well as Athleta sponsored events.

Cheryl is a NY state licensed EMT as well. She resides in Scarsdale, New York, (in Westchester County) where she lives with her husband and 3 young children. She is all too familiar with the challenge of balancing life with fitness!
